Earlier this week I was contacted by a local cycling club to see if I wanted to design an event poster for their major race of the year. They could not offer me any cash payment, but free entry (the equivalent of $15) was on offer.
Given I had nothing else on at the time, I spent a couple of hours designing a poster that included all of their required copy, integrating their cycling kit colours into the poster an using a couple of design elements from event posters they liked.
I assembled everything in my head, looked though the cycling photos I had taken and then put the various elements together in Illustrator and Photoshop. I then sucked everything into InDesign, created and then applied some paragraph styles and the finished art as an A3 pdf. From there I exported a job and a png the sent these three files back to the client.
They were happy with the design which I present to you below.

A couple of weeks after completing this job, the event poster made its way to the client’s website. Click on the cropped image below for a screen capture of how it looks.
